JAMMU, June 25: Provincial president National Conference (NC), Rattan Lal Gupta has accused the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Administration of wasting the funds of exchequer by spending lavishly on the so called Smart City projects in the twin capital cities of J&K. He said that while the common people across the region are struggling to get the basic amenities necessary for survival, the Government is making tall claims of development in the name of various costly projects including its most parroted Smart City Projects.
The senior National Conference (NC) leader levelled these allegations against the Government while chairing a meeting of Jammu East Unit of National Conference (NC) here today. He said that it is an irony of the people of this region that the LG led administration has caused heavy devastation in J&K in all sectors due to its wrong policies. He said while the Government is making tall claims of development and peace in this fragile Union Territory, the fact remains that peace is still a distant dream for the people here with target killings having being a routine affair in the Valley and development only on papers and namesake works on ground.
Rattan Lal Gupta said that people are craving to get regular supply of power and water in the Summer season when these are required the most.
Taking a dig at the administration, he said that painting walls will not make Jammu Smart City but if the Government itself becomes smart then it will automatically lead to all the cities and towns becoming smart cities.
The meeting was organized by Chander Mohan Sharma, district president, Jammu Urban. He nominated Ashok Dogra as vice president, district Jammu Urban and Ashwani Charak as Block-1 president (Jammu East) on this occasion.
