JAMMU, Sept 19: Taranjit Singh Tony, DDC Member, Suchetgarh has demanded border villages near the fence in R S Pura sector should be developed under Model Villages Scheme.
During his visit to the border village of Suchetgarh, the DDC member said that the Government of India should take up the matter on priority as the border villages especially on Zero Line are facing numerous difficulties and deserve special focus for being the frontline defence of the country. He said that students and patients have to suffer a lot due to poor mobile connectivity as signals are of poorest quality here and other facilities are also quite dismal.
He demanded that looking into sacrifices which the people of these border villages have made the Government should come forward and provide them with all modern facilities so that they don’t carry an idea of migrating from this place as their presence in the vicinity is significant as far as the strategic importance of this place is concerned.
Meanwhile, a delegation of students hailing from RS Pura met Tony and apprised him that despite having marks over 85 per cent they are not being able to get admissions in the colleges as the seats are limited. After listening to the delegation, he expressed concern over the issue as students having obtained such a good percentage are not given admissions. He demanded that the Government should soon come out with a panacea to resolve the issue as the students of the border belts have to toil hard to get such good marks and if they were denied admissions they will get disappointed.
He demanded immediate action in the matter and assured the students that he will put the matter at the concerned quarters for early redressal.
