JAMMU, Feb 7: Former Member of Legislative Council and spokesperson of BJP-Jammu Kashmir, Girdhari Lal Raina has asked the Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta to address problems faced by employees on deputation to Relief Organization.
The Relief and Rehabilitation Department set up by the J&K Government to address issues concerning the displaced community from Kashmir has no cadre of its own nor is the Government creating any posts for this organization in the foreseeable future, he wrote. The practice for all these years has been to depute employees from other departments to ensure smooth working of the Relief Organization, said GL Raina.
Raina, while talking to reporters along with BJP Displaced District president, Chand Ji Bhat explained that most of the employees working in Relief Organization are reportedly from the Education Department. Now with the cancellation of deputations ordered by the Government asking employees to return to their parent departments, the Relief Organization is going to be the worst hit, Ex-MLC stressed. This issue has been raised by concerned people and stakeholders at different levels. “We were assured that working of the Relief Organization will not be allowed to get a hit”, he added.
Expressing concern over some of the schools stopping payment of salary to these employees, Raina said that this was creating problems for their families also. But it remains yet to be addressed. If these employees are withdrawn, others replacing them will also have to be deputed from other departments. Also, replacing a large number of employees with a new set of employees is for sure going to affect the working of Relief Organization adversely, he added further.
Concerned schools may be directed to release the pay dues of these employees immediately particularly when Mahashivratri the most important annual festival of the Kashmiri Pandits is approaching and a suitable mechanism may be evolved to ensure that working of the Relief Organization becomes smooth and prevailing uncertainty is put to an end.
