Addressing Judicial pendency

Sir,
The recent guidelines introduced by Acting Chief Justice to tackle the backlog of cases in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are a timely intervention.
The formation of District Case Management Committees, equitable distribution of old cases, and focus on the regular appearance of accused persons and witnesses are crucial steps towards speeding up justice.
However, implementation is key. Regular monitoring, pragmatic local solutions, and collaboration between the judiciary and law enforcement are vital to ensure the success of this initiative.
Importantly, while speeding up the judicial process, the quality of justice must remain uncompromised. Timely justice restores public confidence in the legal system. These new measures, if effectively enforced, have the potential to significantly reduce the pendency of cases and reaffirm faith in the judiciary.
