ADG PIB asks media to spread awareness on millets

KATHUA, Jan 18: Additional Director General PIB, Northern Region, Rajinder Choudhary asked media to spread awareness on the importance of millets.
He was speaking during a rural media workshop (Vartalap) organised by PIB, Jammu, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, here. The objective of the workshop was to build a direct interface between PIB Jammu and the journalists working at district and sub-district level across the UT.
“Media has a vital role to play in spreading awareness regarding the daily use of millets, their advantage, value addition, nutritional benefits, and recipe development,” the ADG Northern Region said.
He emphasized that media should follow Information & Broadcasting Ministry’s various Twitter handles and use PIB fact-check to counter false information and rumours that sometimes confuse public.
In his inaugural address, DC Kathua, Rahul Pandey appreciated the efforts of PIB Jammu in organising the workshop in Kathua.
He said that media being the fourth pillar of the democracy plays a pivotal role in generation of awareness and as such workshops help media persons hone their skills.
District Information Officer, Kathua, Neeraj Bhargav said that media must follow the ethics while reporting in letter and spirit in order to preserve and promote public trust, and to maintain their own credibility.
District Social Welfare Officer Kathua, Abdul Raheem, District Statistical and Evaluation Officer Kathua, Ranjeet Thakur, LMD Kathua, Amul Bhatia among other officers also spoke about a range of issues in the workshop.
