SRINAGAR, Sept 19: SJM Gillani, Additional DGP Armed, J&K today visited various locations of Anantnag District of South Kashmir to take the stock of welfare and functioning of the manpower of three Armed/ IR Battalions besides assessing law and order situation in the area and security of the Unit premises.
During the visit, the ADGP conducted joint Darbar of officers and jawans of IRP-10th, 11th & 17th Battalians at Armed Police complex Mattan in District Anantnag. During the Darbar the officers and jawans put forth their personal as well as collective problems before the ADGP. The ADGP issued on the spot directions to concerned Commandant for redressal of their genuine grievances and assured the jawans that their welfare shall be taken care of on priority.
Regarding the problems falling under the competence of APHQ or PHQ, the ADGP assured the jawans that appropriate action shall be taken on their respective requests at appropriate level. Some of the jawans, who requested the ADGP for their transfers on medical as well as humanitarian grounds were assured that their problems shall be redressed on merits.
During the Darbar, the ADGP directed the Commandants of their respective units to conduct fortnightly Darbar of jawans besides regular orderly room and address their issues on priority. He further directed the Commandants to upgrade the mess facilities of the jawans. He said them that quality food should be provided to the jawans and that there should be no compromise with the quality of the food provided to them. The ADGP also paid visits to the Battalion Hqrs of all the three units located at APC Kheribal, Mattan and DPL Anantnag and conducted inspection of mess facilities, equipment stores, clothing, canteens, ration and barracks of the jawans.
During inspection, the ADGP asked the concerned Commandants to take care of living conditions of the jawans and see that a hygienic atmosphere is maintained in the premises of unit. He advised the officers to ensure regular fitness exercises of jawans by ensuring daily PT and games.
Commandants IRP-10th, 11th & 17th Bns. Fayaz Ahmad Loan-SSP, Altaf Hussain-SSP and Benam Tosh-SSP, respectively, also briefed the ADGP about the functioning of their units and welfare activities.
SSP Anantnag Altaf Khan, GOs of the units and officers of Territorial Police were also present during Darbar.
