JAMMU, Jan 5: The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, today chaired a review meeting to evaluate the ongoing efforts and the progress against drug trafficking and substance abuse in the region.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Inspector General of Police, Crime Branch Jammu, Sunil Gupta, along with the Range DIGs and District SSPs of Jammu Zone, the Chief Prosecuting Officer, and other key officers.
During the meeting, ADGP Jain reviewed the steps being taken to combat the trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration and coordination between various agencies to dismantle drug networks operating in the region.
The meeting focused on strengthening surveillance, enhancing intelligence sharing, and increasing public awareness, particularly in high-risk areas.
The ADGP also acknowledged the progress made in reducing drug-related activity and urged continued efforts to tackle the evolving tactics of drug traffickers.
He instructed officers to identify vulnerable areas and conduct targeted operations, ensuring proper documentation and maintenance of evidence to secure successful convictions.
In addition, ADGP Jain stressed the need for thorough investigations at the prosecutorial level to guarantee successful convictions.
He directed the Crime Branch Jammu to develop clear guidelines and investigative modules for narcotics-related cases.
The ADGP also emphasized the importance of freezing the assets and accounts of drug traffickers, especially those operating in border areas, and called for action against known and suspected smugglers.
He instructed officers to assign skilled investigators to handle narcotics cases for more effective outcomes.
