ADGP lays stress on preventing VB IED attack in South Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 29: After inputs about the Pulwama type of militant attack in South Kashmir, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar today held a high-level meeting in Anantnag district today.
Kumar stressed for the special focus along the National Highway of the security forces on the emerging threat of Vehicle based IEDs and other modes of potential militant attack.
The ADGP said that the meeting discussed potential threats from militants on NHW in detail. He said that the meeting formulated more counter measures to prevent any VB IED attack on the security forces along the NHW.
He said that the SOP of convey movement were also discussed and it was decided to upgrade them. In the meeting, all the field officers gave their assessment about the situation in the area and measures to counter any threat in coming weeks.
ADGP Kashmir instructed all Senior Superintendents of Police to focus on anti-terrorist operations. He stressed for busting of militant modules by apprehending the militant associates.
“They were specially tasked to generate preventive intelligence and share timely amongst all stakeholders,” he said.
The Awantipora based General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Victor Force, Major General Prashant Srivastava, asked his sector commanders to do extensive area domination in night too to foil any militant attack in South Kashmir.
The IG CRPF Kashmir Operations Sector M S Bhatia, IG BSF Ashok Yadav, Joint Director IB, Army’s sector commanders in South Kashmir, DIGs of Police, CRPF, SSB, ITBP and CID and SSsP of Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam and Awantipora attended the meeting.
In the meantime, for last several days the security in South Kashmir especially along the National Highway and in the areas falling on both its sides has been intensified.
The security forces are doing round the clock area domination along the NHW and its adjacent areas to prevent any possible militant strike. The security has been further intensified after recent attack in Poonch on army.
The check points have been established at dozens of places on the NHW at which vehicles are being checked and people are being frisked.
