JAMMU, July 4: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Mukesh Singh today served langar to Shri Amarnathji Yatris besides releasing a Sapt Rishi calendar here at Railway Station Jammu.
A statement said that the langar was organised by Shri Amarnathji Yatra Welfare Society (SAYWS) opposite Vaishnavi Dham. The SAYWS is a constituent of Tourism Federation of Jammu headed by Rajesh Gupta.
It said that Mukesh Singh, joined by former JMC Commissioner and SAYWS President, Kiran Watal, personally served langar to the yatris and interacted with them. He appreciated SAYWS and its management for organising the langar for the yatris.
SAYWS President, Kiran Watal, said that 3000 to 4000 pilgrims have langar at the SAYWS venue every day.
“The number is likely to increase in the days to come as yatra this year is witnessing a huge rush of the pilgrims,” he said.
He attributed the manifold increase in the pilgrimage this year to the state-of-the-art arrangements made by the LG’s Administration for the pilgrims at the base camps of the yatra and en-route to the holy Cave Shrine.
Watal also appreciated the Jammu Division Police for ensuring round-the-clock security to the yatris.
On the occasion, a Sapt Rishi calendar of Lord Shiva was also released by ADGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh, Kiran Watal, and other dignitaries including former MLC Ashok Khajuria, SAYWS Senior Vice-President Anil Gupta, General Secretary Prem Sharma, Joint Secretary Kuldeep Luthra, and Ashok Kumar.
