This has reference to the news item ‘Adhocism affecting fitness of Health Deptt’. DE Aug 20.
Adhocism is not affecting merely working of Health Department but all departments in the State. Whether its PDD, education or PHE, adhocism is a norm there now. The Government just wants to run the business in any way. Those working on adhoc basic do not show much enthusiasm to carry out the tasks entrusted to them. Uncertainty always grips their mind and it prevents their normal functioning.
Adhocism is no panacea to shortage of staff in various Government departments. The solution lies in appointing educated, efficient, honest and young youth on merit basis on vacant posts. Amost every department has a good number of posts vacant and because of it their functioning gets hampered. Though Government overcomes this problem by finding short-term solutions like adhocisms, these solutions hardly work in the future. A permanent solution needs to be found to this problem.
