JAMMU, Mar 8: A meeting of the All Displaced Kashmiri United Forum (ADKUF) was held under the chairmanship of DN Kissu here, today.
The meeting criticised the Government for not persuading the rehabilitation programme of displaced Pandits seriously. Progress on it is moving at snails speed and the policy is not clear yet, it alleged. Forum appealed the Government to start discussions on rehabilitation policy with all prominent organizations of displaced community as soon as possible. More delay for rehabilitating Pandits is making the programme more critical and Government should at least stop casual approach towards solving Pandits’ main problems now, the meeting added.
It said forcible occupation and encroachment of immovable property of Pandits continues unabated and action by the Government is only on papers than on ground. Owners have to move from pillar to post for redressal of grievances and demanded that strict and timely action be taken against illegal occupants who in general have resorted to change the topography of the occupied property to hoodwink the law enforcing agencies and the owners.
It alleged PM’s employment package has not been fully implemented till date and unemployed youth over the years have become overaged while as Temples and Shrines Bill is lying in cold storage. The displaced Pandits have been denied ration though provided revised ration cards under APL category.
Forum expressed concern about the discriminated approach of Government and appealed it to restore ration at par with consumers in Kashmir. Water supply shortage in Dugra Nagar was also highlighted. Chief Advisor of the Forum GL Koul, its president PL Sudeshi, president Women Wing, Phoola Koul general secretary, PN Raina, CL Zutshi, ML Koul and PL Razdan also spoke in the meeting.
