Adm issues notices to 352 more people, to launch fresh operation

*DDC gears up for drive in Sunderbani

RAJOURI, Mar 20: The District Administration, Rajouri issued notices to 352 more persons including shop owners and land lords of other structures for launching anti-encroachment operation while 126 structures have been demolished so far in last three operations retrieving 310 kanals of Government land worth Rs 80 crore so far in the town.
Official sources said that Additional District Development Commissioner A S Chib who is also Administrator of Municipal Committee Rajouri issued notices to 352 shops and establishments within Municipal limits of Rajouri town for removal of encroachments extending on roads and public spaces.
The notices were issued after detailed spot verification by Revenue, Municipal Committee and PWD among other agencies. A deputation of Beopar Mandal while appreciating the initiative offered voluntary removal of encroachments and urged for development of roads and lanes on priority. Previously, a team headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner, AQ Mir completed the marking of encroachments from Abdullah Bridge to Malik Market for widening of approach road with cooperation from owners.
Meanwhile, District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary along with SSP Yougal Manhas and SDM Kartar Singh reviewed the status of encroachments in jurisdiction of Municipal Committee Sunderbani in a meeting of officers from PWD, ULB, GREF and Revenue today.
Detailed discussion was held regarding decongestion and removal of encroachments from Hospital Road, main market, Kangri Road, Employees Colony Road, Rawarian Talab and various vital roads for smooth movement of fire tenders, ambulances and small vehicles. Revenue officials briefed about the cancellation of illegal Girdawaris on Gairmumkin Kassi land and subsequent availability for creation of parking. The DDC directed the SDM and other staff for proper demarcation, marking of encroachments and subsequent issuing of notices. Officer Commanding BRO informed that encroachment mapping has been done for all roads and necessary formalities completed. A list of 58 encroachments was discussed for removal.
The District Administration also appreciated the widespread public support and confidence extended by various socio-political and religious organisations, and vowed to complete the process in a fair, lawful and transparent manner.
During last three separate anti-encroachment drives in Rajouri town, more than 126 structures have been removed to retrieve 310 Kanal prime land worth Rs 70-80 CrORe in last three months, the spokesman said.
