Srinagar, Nov 12: The district administration in Ganderbal has imposed a blanket ban on the sale, possession, storage, and use of Electric Heating Appliances in the District to avoid the heavy load on the transmission system and to avoid unscheduled power shutdowns.
In this regard, the officials said that Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal has also issued the necessary directions to ensure the enforcement of the order across the district to curb the non-judicious use of electricity.
Any violation of the directives, the directives said, shall attract punitive action as warranted under relevant laws, while the authorities of the KPDCL are also set to carry out the necessary drives to ensure enforcement.
The officials of the KPDCL told Excelsior that the directives were much needed and that the enforcement of the same will ensure hassle-free electricity supply in the district.
“With regard to supplying the electricity, we are up to the mark, but when the people use electric heating appliances, the same ends up putting a heavy load on the system, forcing us to go for the load shedding,” Executing Engineer, KPDCL Ganderbal, Mehraj u Din said.
He said that for the enforcement of the orders, the market drives will be conducted so that the sale of the heating appliances is stopped. “We will also ensure that these appliances are seized from homes during the enforcement drives,” he said.
