Reasi, Jan 29: In a relentless pursuit to combat illegal mining, the Geology and Mining Department Reasi, under the proactive guidance of District Development Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan, executed a series of raids targeting unauthorized excavation and mineral dumping in the district.
During last three months the department took stringent action by challaning 31 and seizing 26 vehicles involved in illegal mining activities including seventeen tractors, eight dumper and six JCBs. Further the demarcation of three mining sites has resulted in fine of Rs. 36,94,910. The demarcation exercise is still continuing and the District Collector has warned the lesses to ensure adherence to the norms.
He emphasized the district’s commitment to preserving its natural resources and ensuring sustainable mining of minor minerals as per laid norms and practises.
DDC Mahajan urged the public to report any suspicious mining activities on dedicated District control Room Number 01991-245639 , 94198-39557 and assured that stringent action will be taken against those found violating mining regulations.
