Administration launches anti encroachment drive in Kathua

KATHUA, Nov 2: Continuing its drive against vendors and Rehariwalas who have setup their establishments on Government land, footpaths and Main Bazar Kathua, a team of district administration and Municipal Council (MC) Kathua assisted by police removed vegetable vendors from main Bazar here, today.
Some vegetables vendors had encroached the Municipal land at Main Bazar since long. As the anti encroachment drive is going on and warning issued by administration to vacate the encroached land and shift their establishments at designated Retail Fruit and Vegetables Market opposite District Jail Kathua till the date no vendor or Rehariwalas shifted their establishments to Retail Fruits and Vegetables Market.
Most of vendors and Rehariwalas again setup their establishments on road side or in street creating traffic jams and hazardous atmosphere.
However the vendors of Main Bazar held a protest demonstration against the Muncipal Council and district administration Kathua. They were raising slogans against the action. The administration has received numbers of complaints of traffic jamming, and overcrowding due to vendors and Rehariwalas at Court Road, Main Bazar, Mukherjee Chowk, Shaheedi Chowk and College Road Kathua.
The Municipal Council Kathua made all efforts to streamline the process to clear the chocked points but the vendors are captured the roadsides and foot paths. The administration again warned them to shift their establishments at designated Retail Fruits and Vegetables Market , otherwise legal action will be taken.
