POONCH, Jan 2: The District Magistrate Poonch, M H Malik has banned the new constructions, repair of damaged structures/ houses in recent floods along Poonch rivers and other major nallahs around the city.
In a fresh order issued on Thursday, the District Administration has issued strict instructions to the concerned agencies not to allow any type of constructions in the localities/ areas where flood had caused havoc in Septembers last year. The people had raised illegal constructions along the banks of river Poonch and flood washed away many such illegal structures including shops and houses.
While some of the people moved to the High Court but the stay got vacated and the court too, was convinced that decision of the administration taken for the safety of the public was appreciable. The R&B PMC authorities were directed to restrict any such construction/ repair with immediate effect within the area already identified by the Administration.
Meanwhile, several social organizations of the Poonch city have welcomed the step taken by the Administration and maintained that such illegal constructions all along the river and other big nallas should be banned for the public safety. The land grabbers and the politicians supporting them should also be discouraged, they demanded.
