JAMMU, Feb 10: General secretary of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and media head in Jammu and Kashmir, Rajesh Gupta has expressed deep concern regarding the rising number of road accidents in the region.
While interacting with media today, Gupta specifically referred to the recent Kishtwar accident, in which 4 killed and 12 sustained serious injuries. He held the Administration responsible for rising road accident deaths in the region. The BSP leader said despite repeated road accidents happening every other day the Administration is least bothered about these accidents.
He said as per official data, J&K witnessed a surge in road accidents, with a staggering 6,292 incidents claiming the lives of 893 people in 2023. He said several road fatalities in J&K occurred on national highways, particularly in the hilly Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban areas. Gupta appealed the administration to prioritize human lives, emphasizing that a person’s life is more valuable than anything else.
