Adopt latest technology to make JKCL profitable venture: Kichloo

SRINGAR, July 10: Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo has stressed the need for adopting latest technologies to make Jammu and Kashmir Cements Limited a profitable and viable business venture of the State.
Mr. Kichloo, who is also Chairman JKLC, was addressing 98th Board of Directors meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Cements Limited (JKCL) here today.
Financial Commissioner, Industries and Commerce, Khursheed Ahmad Ganai was also present in the meeting.
The board discussed status of various ongoing projects, including Clinker Grinding cum Packing Unit coming up at a cost of Rs.26.96 crore at Industrial Growth Centre, Samba, Jammu. The unit has a capacity of producing 300 ton cement per day. The board gave a time line of August 20 for its completion. The Board also approved upgradation of  Kiln and Coal Mill of old cement plant at Khrew.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kichloo stressed upon the functionaries of the company to redouble their efforts so that the company could emerge as one of the biggest profitable company of the state. The minister also emphasised the management to improve the performance in production and sale of cement.
Financial Commissioner, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai enjoined upon the concerned officers to conduct Environment Impact Assessment through State Pollution Control Board of entire Khrew area where various cement plants are operating.
Earlier MD, JKCL, Rakesh Sharma gave a detailed presentation of the achievements of the corporation.
The meeting was informed that over 30,000 MTs of cement, valuing Rs.23.76 crore have been sold during first Quarter of the current financial year while  the organization has generated a revenue of Rs.93.29 Crore during last financial year by selling 1,31,314 MTs of cement.
Among others, Director Budget Rafiq Ahmad Andrabi, Special Secretary Planning and Development, Showkat Beigh, Director PDD, A. K. Gandotra, Director Geology and Mining, A.K. Tickoo besides other senior officers were present on the occasion.
