Adopt people friendly attitude: IGP Traffic to cops

JAMMU, Dec 9: IGP Traffic, Alok Kumar has stressed upon officers and Jawans to adopt people friendly attitude and take effective measures to streamline the flow of traffic in Jammu city as well as in rural areas.
During an interaction with police officers and officials of Traffic City/Rural here today, the IGP directed his cops to remain firm on implementation of law and to impose maximum fine as per the law upon the violators so that the same has a deterrent effect.
He also directed cops to carry special drives against overloading, particularly in passenger vehicles.
The officers were asked to make optimum use of body worn cameras and other technology to record public behavior while challaning as this would go a long way in strengthening transparency in Traffic Police.
They were further asked to spread maximum awareness among passengers regarding fitness of the vehicles they travel in and appropriate driving license of the driver.
For the safety and security of Jawans performing duty during night hours, emphasis was laid on wearing of fluorescent jackets.
The IGP assured all support to the cops from the department regarding their problems.
He assured them that all their grievances would be redressed and all the commendable work would be appreciated and rewarded.
The IGP Traffic gave directions to all supervisory officers to conduct similar programmes at different levels regularly.
Apart from many officers over 400 jawans were present in the interaction programme.
