SRINAGAR, July 11: Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal on Wednesday asked J&K Rehabilitation Council to adopt a proactive approach while dealing with widows, orphans, handicapped, old person and militancy victims.
Chairing its Executive Council meeting here, the Chief Secretary insisted on raising the morale of the affected individuals by extending suitable support system so that they can carry out routine activities like rest of the population. “Furthermore, the Rehabilitation Council link them with other concerned departments and look out to establish partnerships with committed organizations for lending extra support and care to these people”, he asserted.
The Executive members reviewed the working of the Rehabilitation Council during the previous years and took stock of its functioning and requirements. It also discussed and approved the Action Plan for the year 2012-13 amounting Rs 644.46 lakh to cover 7193 general category beneficiaries and Rs 260.61 lakh for 2098 orphans of killed militants. It also approved continuation of various important programmes run by the Council.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Finance, M. I. Khandey, Principal Secretary Home, B. R. Sharma, Commissioner Secretary Revenue, B. A. Runiyal, Secretary Social Welfare, Gazenffar Hussain, Executive Director State Rehabilitation Council Hafeeza Muzzafar and other senior officers.
