Adopted son kills ‘mother’

JAMMU, Mar 9: An adopted son killed his ‘mother’ with a sharp-edged weapon in her house at village Jitpur near Kishenpur under the jurisdiction of Jhajjar Kotli police station this afternoon.
Accused Chuni Lal was absconding. The victim has been identified as Bindu Devi, about 60, wife of Kapoor Chand.
Police said Kapoor Chand, a resident of Jitpur had adopted his sister’s son as he had no child. Kapoor’s wife, Bindu Devi had left his husband’s house but returned after Kapoor passed away two years back.
Kapoor had kept his land on the name of adopted son, Chuni Lal. However, police said, Bindu Devi managed to change title of land back on her name, which irritated Chuni Lal.
This afternoon, Chuni Lal hit Bindu Devi with a sharp edged weapon on her head, leading to her on spot death. The accused fled away from the spot.
Police parties headed by SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Pervez Sajjad under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Khalik Choudhary rushed to the spot for investigations. Police have registered a murder case against the accused and launched a hunt to nab him.
