Adoption of Devanagari script will bridge gap between languages: Prof Rasal

JAMMU, Feb 25: Emphasizing on maximum use of mother tongue, Prof Rasal Singh (Dean, Students Welfare, University of Jammu) today said that the adoption of Devanagari script will bridge the gap between Indian languages.
He talked about using Devanagari script as the national script. “The adoption of Devanagari script will remove the distance, separation and bring familiarity between the Indian languages,” Prof Singh asserted while addressing faculty members and students of various departments of the University during a programme which was presided over by him.
Prof Singh, who is also chairman of Hindi and other Indian languages department of JU, also described the National Education Policy 2020 as the best against the flawed colonial education policy of Lord Macaulay and described it as friendly to the mother tongue.
In the program, teachers of Central University of Jammu, Dr Ritu Bakshi, Romesh Sharma and Aurobindo Yadav also performed in their own mother tongue. Arjun (Bhaderwahi), Paramjit Kaur (Punjabi), Kajol Devi (Dogri), Piyush Kumar (Awadhi), Sanjeev Kumar (Haryanvi), Krishna Mohan (Bhojpuri), Pooja Sharma (Dogri), Samiti Sharma (Hindi), Various researchers and students like Manish (Hindi), Aarti Devi (Kashmiri), Kamaldeep (Hindi) and Saurabh (Pahari) presented poems and songs in their mother tongue.
The role and outline of the program was presented by Dr Shashank Shukla. Shivam Joshi, State Vistarak of Indian Education Board, Jammu and Kashmir said that the basic thought process can be done in mother tongue only.
Organized under the joint aegis of Department of Hindi and Other Indian Languages of Central University of Jammu and Indian Education Board, Jammu and Kashmir Province, the program was successfully conducted by Dr Ratnesh Kumar Yadav, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi and Other Indian Languages while Dr Vandana Sharma presented formal vote of thanks.
