JAMMU, Nov 18: Mahant Rohit Shastri, President of Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avim Vedic Sansthan Trust today demanded for the advertisement of the posts of Sanskrit Lecturers in Hr Sec Schools of J&K.
In this regard, Shastri also submitted a memorandum to Suresh Kumar Gupta, Administrative Secretary of the School Education Department.
This has been a long-standing demand of Sanskrit scholars, many of whom have now exceeded the age limit for applying due to delays by the Government.
Emphasizing the urgent need for advertising these posts, he said, “Filling these vacancies is crucial to meeting the expectations of Sanskrit scholars who are keen to contribute to the academic and cultural enrichment of the region.”
Shastri also urged the Government to make Sanskrit a mandatory subject starting from Class 6 in all schools across Jammu and Kashmir.
He highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir has historically been a timeless center of Shaivism.
“It is the land of luminaries such as Acharya Abhinavagupta, the founder of the Pratyabhijna philosophy, Mahakavi Kalhana, Mahakavi Bilhana and numerous other ancient Sanskrit scholars. These revered figures have illuminated not just India but the entire world with their intellectual and spiritual contributions,” he said and expressed confidence that expediting the advertisement of Sanskrit lecturer posts would not only motivate Sanskrit enthusiasts but also help revive the region’s diminishing Sanskrit heritage and philosophy.
Aditya Abhiraj Sharma was also present on the occasion.
