JAMMU, July 24: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Khan, today e-reviewed functioning of the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj including execution of MGNREGA works besides assessing implementation of ongoing works being executed under Centrally and UT sponsored schemes.
Secretary Rural Development Department, Sheetal Nanda, Director RDD, Jammu, Sudershan Kumar, Director Rural Sanitation, Jammu and other concerned officers were present in the meeting at Jammu while all the Deputy Commissioners of Jammu Division participated through video conferencing.
Advisor, while addressing the meeting, said that schemes like MGNREGA are aimed at to create durable assets in rural and far-flung areas with focus on providing livelihood to economically weaker sections of the society. He asked the officers to work with utmost dedication so that the set targets are achieved in time.
Director Rural Development, Jammu presented a detailed presentation about the district and Panchayat wise status of progress achieved so far regarding MGNREGA, Pardhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) and 14th Finance Commission in respect of Jammu division. He detailed about the status of construction of new Panchayat Bhawans and renovation of Panchayat Bhawans under RGSA in Jammu. He also briefed about the status of Pardhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Grameen (PMAY-G) and the targets achieved under the scheme by various districts.
Advisor directed the authorities to expedite the pace of progress on construction and renovation of Panchayat Bhawans under RGSA so that the works are completed within the stipulated time frame.
Deputy Commissioners presented the status of various centrally sponsored schemes going on in their respective districts.
Advisor directed the DCs to personally monitor the progress on the schemes on fortnightly basis for effective implementation. He enjoined upon all the officers to lay special focus on updation of technical estimates, payment of wages, billing process, works undertaken, geo-tagging and other issued related to the schemes.
Regarding issue of irregularities in technical estimates on secure portal, Advisor directed the concerned to ensure that all the estimation of the shelf (Plan of 2020-21) is completed within the set deadline besides asking them to file compliance report in this regard.
Other issues that came up for discussion included Integrated Watershed Management Programme, Swachh Bharat Mission, 14th FC etc.
