JAMMU, Mar 17: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan today took a detailed review of functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Development Corporation (JKSCSTBCDC).
Managing Director JKSCSTBCDC, Dr Bharat Bhushan; OSD to Advisor, Muhammad Ashraf Hakak and other concerned were also present in the meeting.
The Managing Director of the Corporation apprised the meeting that the Corporation has provided loans to the people of the targeted groups during the current financial year to the tune of Rupees twenty crore, which is the highest ever achievement of the Corporation in a single financial year.
It was given out that out of six Apex Corporations of the country with which the Corporation is working, five corporations have been awarded the State Corporation to the tune of Rs 11.84 lakh during the current financial year.
This includes, it was informed, National Award for Performance Excellence for State Chanellizing Agencies (SCAs) by National Scheduled Castes finance and development corporation, New Delhi to the tune of Rs three lakh and five lakh (GIA) by National Minorities Finance and Development Corporation, New Delhi to the tune of Rs five lakh.
The Advisor took detailed review of Apex Corporations wise of the loans advanced, recovery position, overall strength of the staff of the corporation and position of accounts.
The Advisor appreciated that in pursuance to the directional given him in the Annual General Meeting of the Corporation held in Srinagar on October 19, 2019. The corporation has completed the audit accounts from 1997-98 to 2017-18 and accounts for 2018-19 have also been compiled, the meeting was told.
Advisor Khan while reviewing the constitution of the Board of Directors of the Corporation directed to immediately take up with the Apex Corporations regarding nomination of their corporations directors so that Board of Directors meeting can be held in near future.
He directed the MD of the Corporation to submit the detailed lists of the beneficiaries assisted, Apex Corporation wise with details of activity and quantum of loans.
Farooq Khan also chaired separate meetings to review the functioning of Women’s Development Corporation (WDC) and J&K Rehabilitation Council (JKRC).
While reviewing functioning of WDC, the meeting was informed that the Corporation disbursed loans to the tune of Rs 25 crore among 1000 women beneficiaries in the year 2019-20 to empower them socio-economically by helping them to set up their own income generation units.
It was given out that the Corporation has disbursed Rs 188 crore loans among 16,224 beneficiaries up to March 31, 2019 since the inception of the Corporation.
Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Khan appreciated the performance of WDC and hoped that more socio-economically backward women would be aided under income generating schemes and programmes.
The Advisor also highlighted the need for vibrant mass awareness across the Jammu and Kashmir so that the economically weaker sections of society are benefited.
He also directed the Corporation to conduct various vocational training programmes across J&K so that aspiring entrepreneurs would be well acquainted with required skills for running their business units successfully.
On the occasion, Managing Director WDC, Nahida Soz briefed the meeting about the details of the schemes being implemented by the Corporation for the economic empowerment of socially and economically backward women.
Earlier, chairing a review meeting of J&K Rehabilitation Council (RC), the Advisor called for mass awareness to reach out to the targeted group regarding different schemes.
The meeting was informed that Rs 7.34 crore upto December 2019 was disbursed among 7,916 registered beneficiaries.
It was given out that 300 Scooties were distributed free-of-cost among physically challenged people preferably among physically challenged students.
The meeting was informed that the Council provides pension to widows/old age parents and physically challenged persons at Rs 1000 each beneficiary per month.
On the occasion, Advisor Khan said that the Council is mandated to provide assistance for physical, psychological and economic rehabilitation of the victims of militancy with special focus on widows, orphans, and handicapped and aged persons whose breadwinner is killed or incapacitated as a result of militancy-related incidents.
He directed the Council to carry out a survey of people affected with militancy who need financial assistance under different schemes.
