JAMMU, Nov 19: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today visited Govt. Medical College (GMC) and took stock of medical facilities available there in view of ongoing pandemic COVID-19 besides inspected the ongoing works at recently established Liquid Oxygen Plant at GMC, Jammu.
The Advisor was accompanied by Principal, GMC Jammu, Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma; Medical Superintendent, GMC & Hospital, Dr. Dara Singh; HoDs of different departments, I/C Control Room, XEN Mechanical and other Senior Officers.
Advisor Bhatnagar while inspecting the ongoing works of Liquid Oxygen Plant at GMC directed the executing agency to complete the works at the earliest so that the plant can be made functional for the better patient care in times of COVID.
He was informed that most of the works have been completed at the plant and the testing of the plant will be done today only after which it will be made operational for the patient care.
Advisor Bhatnagar directed the concerned officials that proper plan should be made beforehand for smooth operation of the oxygen plant besides the staff meant for operating the plant should be properly trained.
He impressed upon the officials that the oxygen supply should be regulated properly and provided within the specific parameters to the patients.
While inspecting the control room established at GMC for better COVID management, Advisor Bhatnagar enquired about the status of complaints received at the control room and directed the officials to facilitate the public and provide them all possible help.
He further directed the officials to maintain proper record of the patients complaints and ensure that installed CCTV cameras in all critical care wards are properly used to monitor patient care and services.
The Advisor asked the Medical Superintendent to ensure that regular feedback is obtained from admitted patients.
Advisor Bhatnagar later held a brief meeting with Principal GMC, Medical Superintendent GMC, HoDs and other faculty members of the Hospital. He asked them to ensure that the services being provided in the GMC are up to public expectations and the concerns raised by general public are addressed regularly.
He directed them that adequate supplies of medicines and other medical equipments should be made available regularly at the hospital besides sufficient medical staff be made available for managing the COVID patients as well as providing and expanding regular health medical services and patient care in the Hospital.
