Advisor Khan inaugurates mega cleanliness, plantation drives at GMC

JAMMU, Feb 23: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan today inaugurated and flagged off mega cleanliness and tree plantation drives at Government Medical College Jammu which were organised by Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation (SNCF) in order to pay tribute to Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj on his 66th Birth Anniversary, Brand Ambassador of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
While speaking on the occasion, Advisor Khan lauded the social activities of Mission and appreciated the volunteers participating in these drives. He appealed the section of society to come forward selflessly for this noble cause.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajit Singh Zonal Incharge SNM said that cleanliness and tree plantation drives by the Mission are being taken up since 2003.
Commissioner Secretary Forest, Environment & Ecology Department, Sarita Chauhan; Former Director General Planning, B R Lachotra, Medical Superintendent GMC Jammu and other concerned were also present on the occasion.
Sarwal, Gandhi Nagar and SMGS Government Hospitals were also covered under the drives.
At SMGS, Purnima Sharma Deputy Mayor JMC inaugurated the drive and complimented the SNCF for their unmatched contribution to the society.
Pertinently, the Mega Cleanliness and Tree Plantation drives throughout India are covering 1266 Government Hospitals in 400 cities with the help of about 3.5 lakh volunteers, Sewadal and active members of the Sant Nirankari Mission (SNM).
In Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, around 50 hospitals are being covered under the Mission.
