SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Advisor to Governor, Farooq Khan today held a meeting to review the functioning of Social Welfare Department.
While reviewing progress of various scholarship schemes being run by the Department, he impressed upon the officials that that they should see that every eligible student gets benefited. He also asked them that they should work in coordination with the Education Department to ensure that no student is left out of the scholarship scheme.
During the meeting, the Advisor asked the officials to work with missionary zeal as the department is catering to the poor and weaker sections of the society.
With regard to Anganwadi centres, Advisor Khan directed the officials that they should see that all the requisite facilities are being provided to children. He also asked the officials that they should work towards making every Anganwadi centre a model centre.
He also asked the officials that they should see the correctional homes, being run by the department for juveniles are given proper counseling so that they become law abiding citizens. He also asked them that the counselors that are appointed at the correctional homes should be well experienced so that juveniles can have a better future.
The Advisor also reviewed the status of National Social Assistance Programme, One Stop Centre, Mahila Shakti Kendra and other pension and scholarship schemes.
Earlier, Principal Secretary Social Welfare, Rohit Kansal gave a brief about the functioning of the department to the Advisor. He also informed him about the various pension and scholarship schemes being run by the Department.
Director General Social Welfare Kashmir/Jammu, Mission Director ICDS, Mission Director ICPS and other officials of the Social Welfare Department attended the meeting.
