ANANTNAG, Oct 22: Advisor to Governor, Farooq Ahmad Khan today visited Anantnag district and convened a meeting to review progress achieved under Agriculture, Horticulture, RDD and Education sectors.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Agriculture Production Manzoor Ahmad Lone, Director Agriculture Kashmir Altaf Aijaz Indrabi, Director Horticulture Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Director Sericulture Riyaz Ahmad Wani and other sectoral officers of the Line Departments.
During the meeting, the Advisor stated that Horticulture Sector can be a game changer for the overall economic development of the region and special emphasis be given to promotion of high-density plantation. He also directed branding of the Agriculture products like Honey, Apple and Walnut.
He directed ACD Anantnag to ensure cent percent completion of RDD works up to the end of December 2019. He directed CEO Anantnag to ensure rationalization of teaching staff in schools, holding of awareness camps and opening of school playgrounds from 4 pm to 6 pm for local youth.
On the occasion, District Development Commissioner Khalid Jahangir briefed the Advisor about the progress achieved under sectors like Agricultural, Horticulture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, RDD and Education in the district.
During the meeting, issues related to completion of auditorium hall at GHSS Dooru, Hostel facility at Polytechnic College Larkipora, renovation/repairs, provision of funds to the tune of Rs 35 lakhs for construction of incomplete fencing of the Polytechnic College, sanctioning of five vegetable clusters for the district, marketing facility for Mushkbudji and enhancement in the quota of bee keeping, sheep raring units and bulk milk plants under dairy sector were deliberated upon.
The Advisor gave consent to the establishment of mobile soil testing lab and assured that the Government will provide all possible support to the district administration in carrying forward developmental process and implementation of various welfare programmes.
