Advisor Khan visits Residential School for Blind

JAMMU, Sept 17: Advisor to Governor Farooq Khan today visited Residential School for Blind at Roop Nagar to take a first-hand appraisal of facilities being provided to the inmates there.
He was accompanied by Director General Social Welfare Rehana Batul, Deputy Director Planning Kuldeep Singh, District Social Welfare Officer Jammu Ajay Salaan, Superintendent of the School Dr. Dheeraj, besides other senior officers of the concerned department.
The Advisor, while assessing facilities including education, lodging, nutrition and hygiene, expressed satisfaction and appreciated officers and staff of the school for their efforts towards the betterment of the inmates.
The inmates of the school put forth various problems being faced by them and sought an early redressal of the same.
Special recruitment drive for the blinds, exclusive reservation for them including other facilities and requirements for the school were some of the major demands of the inmates.
The Advisor said that the school will be provided with all support to make it equipped with all modern facilities. He assured them that a draft of their demands will be prepared for immediate action and all their grievances shall be redressed as early as possible.
A cultural programme was also presented by the inmates of the blind school which was appreciated by one and all. He also interacted with the students of the school.
