Advisor Narula reviews implementation of PMGKY

LEH, Apr 3: Advisor to Lt Governor, Umang Narula today convened a meeting to review the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gharib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY).
The meeting was attended by Div Com, Saugat Biswas; IGP, Satish Khandare; DC Sachin Kumar Vaishya and Zonal Head of JK Bank, Tsewang Dorjai while DC Kargil, and Director Social Welfare of Kargil participated in the meeting through video conference.
Saugat Biswas informed the meeting that all the beneficiaries covered under AAY & PHH will be provided additional 5kg rice per person and 1kg pulses per household free of cost for a period of three months starting from this month. The issue of smooth distribution in conformity with the social distancing norms was also discussed during the meeting.
It was decided that schedule of distribution will be worked out at the sale centre level by the store keeper and the same be publicized in the villages in a staggered manner and in coordination with the police department.
The Advisor also instructed the DCs to start stocking up of the fair price shops with adequate food grains from the respective FCI stores.
Narula stated that ‘Direct Benefit Transfers’ will be made under the PMGKY and instructed the District Magistrates to work out modalities for staggering of payments to the beneficiaries to ensure social distancing. He advised the banks to publicize the staggering of payments.
He instructed Director Social Welfare to facilitate the delivery of benefits to the beneficiaries especially the old aged and the divyangs so that they should not suffer due to current restriction.
