SRINAGAR, Oct 3: Advisor to Governor K K Sharma today directed undertaking comprehensive measure in order to explore alternate sources of energy to make Jammu and Kashmir sufficient in energy production.
The Advisor was speaking at the tenth meeting of governing body of JAKEDA here today.
Principal Secretary Science and Technology, Bipul Pathak, Commissioner Secretary PDD Hridesh Singh, Development Commissioner Power, Director General Planning, CEO JAKEDA, Director NIT and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
The Advisor while reviewing the status of various ongoing projects and schemes being implemented by the agency directed ensuring their timely closure so that the energy resources are augmented which would make the State self sufficient in power generation. He said that they should also undertake coordinated efforts to remove bottlenecks by holding regular meetings.
He also directed undertaking holistic exercise for ensuring proper tapping of various non-conventional energy resources especially the solar power. He said that if harnessed in a proper manner it would go a long way in filling the energy gaps by proper supplementation of solar power.
The Advisor also called for involving young and budding entrepreneurs in different projects and ongoing schemes especially the new startups. He said that the step would ensure active participation of the locals especially the technocrats and skilled youth in the project implementation, which would also help in the generation of employment avenues.
The Advisor also directed the CEO JAKEDA to prepare a detailed report about the status of implementation of the various projects (in hydroelectric sector) and also exploring the possibilities of making the solar rooftops popular among the masses which would augment energy generation capacities besides providing the households producing extra solar power with revenues as well.
