AE booked on rape charges

RAMBAN, Feb 25: Police in Banihal today booked an Assistant Engineer (AE) of Public Works Department posted in Samagra Shiksha Ramban on rape charges.
Police sources informed that the 18-year-old victim along with her father, resident of Soof Shali, Kokernag, Anantnag visited Police Station Banihal and complained that Syed Yawer Amin, Assistant Engineer, son of Mohammad Amin Pir, resident of Banihal had raped her.
The rape victim was working as domestic help in the house of Yawar Amin on fixed Rs. 6000 monthly wages.

Police sources informed that after 18 days of her job the domestic help was told by Shobi Begum, wife of Syed Yawer Amin that she was leaving for Jammu for some work and will return after three days but she spent 13 days in Jammu.
During this period the domestic help fell ill and Yawer Amin gave her a tablet after taking which she went to sleep in her room.
Next day when she woke up, she found herself without clothes and she also found the door of her room open and learned that Yawar had raped her.
Police sources informed that when Yawar’s wife returned from Jammu the domestic help narrated to her the whole story.
The victim in her complaint also claimed that she was then thrown out of the house.
Police has registered a case in FIR No. 29/2024 under Sections 420/376/34 IPC at Police Station Banihal.
The rape accused was on run till last reports and efforts by Police were on to arrest him.
SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar said the victim was admitted in Hospital and her statement under Section 164 will be recorded on Monday.
