SRINAGAR, Dec 21: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) trapped and arrested Tanveer Ahmad Dar, Assistant Engineer, Rural Development Department, Surasyar, Chadoora in District Budgam, for demanding and accepting Rs 2000 as bribe for releasing payment of a contractor.
The trap was laid following a written complaint against Tanveer Ahmad Dar, posted as AE in Rural Development Department, BDO Office, Surasyar, Chadoora. He was allegedly demanding bribe of Rs 2000 for release of due payment in favour of the complainant, who was a contractor of Rural Development Department and had completed allotted works.
The complainant alleged that the two bills amounting to the tune of Rs 90, 000 each were to be passed by said AE, who demanded 2 percent commission and finally agreed on Rs 2000 as bribe for releasing the payment.
Acting on the complaint, ACB laid a successful trap and caught Tanveer Ahmad Dar red handed while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 2000. The bribe money was recovered on the spot from possession of the accused, who was arrested and taken into legal custody.
Further Investigation of the case is going on.
