RAMBAN, Apr 28: A Project Officer (PO) of AFCON Company has been booked for assaulting a worker at T-49 tunnel construction site at tehsil Khari.
As per sources, PO of AFCON severally thrashed a worker Nasir Ahmed, a resident of tehsil Khari owing to some issue, in which latter received critical injuries.
The profusely bleeding victim was shifted to District Hospital, from where he was later referred to a hospital in Srinagar, where he was undergoing treatment, when reports last came in.
Later, the others workers engaged in the construction work of the tunnel suspended their work and held protest. They demanded legal action against the PO.
After getting information, Tehsildar Tanvir-ul-Majeed and SHO Banihal Inspector Nazir Dar rushed to the spot and assured the protesting workers that legal action will be taken against the accused.
A case in this regard has been registered at Banihal police station and investigation started.
On the assurance and registration of FIR, the workers dispersed and resumed their work.
