After 4 MLAs, PDP MLC revolts

JAMMU, July 6: After four MLAs, today it was two-time PDP MLC Yasir Reshi, who raised banner of revolt against the party leadership.
In a signed statement, Reshi said he was in complete conformity with views expressed recently by his colleagues, four party MLAs, to find an alternative to the traditional two-family system in Kashmir.
“The only way out is to give a chance to a new leadership. The State needs a respite from the tried, tested and failed two-family power sharing model,’’ Reshi said.
Asserting that Jammu and Kashmir is facing multiple challenges of governance, law and order and societal distress, the PDP MLC said the successive Governments have failed to face these challenges resulting in anarchical type of situation.
“The need of the hour is to rise to the occasion and collectively, cutting across party lines, build a consensus on a leadership, which has the capacity to counter these challenges,’’ he said.
Four MLAs—Imran Raza Ansari, Abid Ansari, Mohammad Abbas and Javed Beig have already revolted against the PDP leadership.
