JAMMU, Aug 24: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has termed Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) as a job snatcher Government instead of job giver and raised voice against interference in working of Ponywalas and Pithuwalas of pious pilgrimage of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra, Reasi.
Addressing a press conference here today over the protest of Ponywalas and Pithuwalas in Katra, Aam Aadmi Party leaders headed by former Minister Harsh Dev Singh said that BJP Government is resorting to act of privatization of important quarters in the country that include Railways, LIC and now party has stepped to a new low with proposal of privatization of religion.
“Government is now mulling to privatize the working of Pithuwalas and Ponywalas which is a direct assault on their livelihood and is another attempt of Government to provide benefit to big industrialists and its favourite firms by crushing poor workers,” Harsh Dev Singh said. He said that thousands of people drawn from different districts of Jammu province are working as Ponywalas and Pithuwalas in the pilgrimage of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji and there is no need for a Government certificate for these dedicated workers who not only earn their livelihood by working in this pilgrimage but are also upholding the morality and human values.
Harsh Dev said, “This is completely unfortunate on the part of BJP Government and LG Administration that they are hell bent to snatch the jobs of Ponywalas and Pithuwalas and is mulling to bring in a private firm which will be a direct assault on the livelihood and life of these workers.” He further stated that BJP Government earlier failed in providing new jobs and is now clearly becoming a ‘Job Snatcher Government ‘ for youth.
“Aam Aadmi Party is against this move and we will establish contact with Lieutenant Governor very soon and will stand up against privatization of work of Ponywalas and Pithuwalas,” he added.
