NEW DELHI: Critically-acclaimed filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, whose latest venture ‘Shikara’ bombed at the box-office without a thud, decided to do what he is best at-directing light-hearted movies!
In an interview to a leading media website recently, the renowned Producer-Director announced the much-anticipated film Munna Bhai 3, which would be his next project. According to Chopra, he had planned the third installment of the Munna Bhai series for a very long time, but the project was delayed as he was not getting a good script.
”Now that I’ve zeroed in on a good storyline, I’ll start it pretty soon,” he said. Munnabhai series started in 2003 with Mubbabhai MBBS. Three years later, the second installment of the film ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ was released, both of which set the cash registers ringing. The movies, which went on to become commercially and critical successes, were directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starred Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi in lead roles.
Chopra confirmed that the star cast of the next Munnabhai film would remain more or less the same, with Sanjay Dutt in the titular role and expressed hope that Arshad would be in the supportive role, with Rajkumar Hirani once again donning the hat of a Director. (AGENCIES)
