RAJOURI, July 22: A massive protest was held by family members and relatives of a woman in Rajouri who died under suspicious circumstances here today.
Reports said that after conducting a postmortem in Government Medical College, Rajouri, the family members and relatives held a strong protest outside the hospital by keeping the dead body on the road for an hour as they were alleging that she was allegedly murdered by her in-laws.
Father of the deceased, Manzoor Hussain alleged that his daughter has been murdered by her husband and their family members. He was demanding strict punishment against the culprits.
He said that when he came to know about the death of his daughter, he reached her in-laws house, but instead of talking to him, her husband misbehaved with him and also beat him up.
However, after about an hour of protest, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Headquarters Rajouri Mudassar Hussain and Station House Officer, Rajouri Shoket Hussain reached the spot and assured the family members to take action and handed them the dead body for the last rites. Police have also detained the husband of the deceased for questioning, as per reports.
Meanwhile, Rajouri police issued an official handout that said that on Friday at about 2 PM, one lady, Shazia Kouser (26) wife of Mohd Zafer, resident of Pallulian, was brought to GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri where doctors declared her dead. Lady was brought to hospital after her health deteriorated under mysterious conditions in her house.
Police said an attendant of the deceased lady shifted her to Pallulian for burial but then her father informed Police Post Rajouri city that his daughter died under suspicious circumstances.
On this occasion, police post Incharge Rajouri city rushed to the spot and took the body of the deceased lady into police custody and shifted the body to GMC Associated Hospital, where the body was kept at the mortuary of GMC Rajouri. The postmortem of the lady was conducted by the board of doctors on Saturday morning and inquest proceedings under section 174 CRPC have been initiated at Police Post City. Further investigation is going on.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajouri Amritpal Singh said, “Inquest proceedings are on in this case and strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty.”
Medical Superintendent, GMC, Rajouri, Dr Mehmood Hussain Bajar said that the deceased woman was brought to GMC Rajouri yesterday at about 2:00 pm and doctor declared her as brought dead.
