JAMMU, Mar 30: The NC MLA and former minister Aga Ruhulla Mehdi clashed with Independent MLA from Langate, Engineer Rashid during Zero Hour in the Assembly today after later objected the recent statement of Chief Minister in which he had said that Hurriyat Conference was behind stone pelting.
However, Mr Rashid while welcoming the statement of NC additional general secretary, Dr Mustafa Kamaal for saying Mirwaiz Moulvi Umar Farooq had asked people not to pelt stones said Hurriyat from very beginning was opposed to stone pelting.
The MLA wanted to know who was right the Chief Minister who blamed Hurriyat for stone pelting or Dr Kamaal.
This was strongly objected by Aga Ruhulla, who said Hurriyat was responsible for all trouble in the State.
Countering him, Engineer Rashid said that NC was afraid of Hurriyat and so they have put Syed Ali Shah Geelani behind the bars. He said let the Government allow peaceful movement of Hurriyat but it will not allow as it is afraid of the amalgam leaders.
While attacking NC MLA, Rashid said “you have security but I don’t and I am moving without security’’. He also accused the Government of freeing Hurriyat leader Moulvi Omar Farooq after 45 days.
When Prof Chaman Lal Gupta also stood up from his seat to counter Rashid saying that he is always talking of separatists, the Independent MLA made a counter attack to him and said Kashmir is a disputed territory and the issue has not been resolved as yet. Congress MLA, G M Saroori also stood up from his seat saying that Rashid was wasting the time of the House.  Rashid countered him also and said “I have all sympathy with you Saroori Sahib but by opposing Hurriyat you will not be inducted as Minister’’.
However Speaker Mubarak Gul urged the members not to react to Rashid as to every action there is an equal and opposite  reaction.
