Agarwal reviews arrangements for training of new Prosecuting Officers

JAMMU, Dec 2: In order to impart quality training to newly appointed Prosecuting Officers in JKP, a meeting was held at Police Headquarters today (PHQ) under the chairmanship of Additional Director General of Police (Trainings), Navin Agarwal.
It was desired that the newly appointed Prosecuting Officers should be imparted quality training at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) to make them competent to face the ever increasing challenges of the police force including the need to improve the conviction rate in criminal cases in the courts and create awareness about human rights as well as legal rights of the common citizens.
During the meeting, it was decided that besides being taught Ranbir Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Evidence Act and Local and Special Laws, the Probationary Prosecuting Officers will also be trained in Police Rules and Police Practical Work. Besides the role of Police in the changing modern context, they will also be taught the basic concepts of criminology, man-management and behavioural science. These Probationary Prosecuting Officers will also be introduced to Forensic Science and Forensic Medicine besides Computer Science.
The ADGP emphasized upon the importance of teaching urdu to those not proficient in this language so that they can become fluent in examining the police records and doing the court work efficiently .
Mr. Agarwal emphasized that these Prosecuting Officers also being Inspectors of Police should be made knowledgeable about all issues to discharge their duties
Various issues pertaining to providing of uniforms, transport and equipment besides functioning of moot court were also discussed. The training is likely to commence at the SKPA Udhampur from December 16..
Among those who attended the meeting included Director SKPA, Rajesh Kumar, Director Prosecution PHQ, Pawan Kumar Gupta, CAO PHQ, Omar Khan, AIG (Prov) PHQ, Sheikh Junaid Mahmood, AIG (Pers), Tahir Sajad, SP (Trgs) PHQ, B. A. Shah and other police officers.
