Aged pensioners should have physical verification at home: MPs

NEW DELHI : Several members in the Lok Sabha today strongly protested a Home Ministry circular which required even aged Indian National Army(INA) pensioners to travel to Delhi for physical verification.
The issue was by CPI(M) Member A Sampath during Zero Hour. He said a 75-year-old widow of an INA member living in Thiruvanathapuram recently received a communication for appearing in person with all documents in one of the Home Ministry offices in Delhi for physical verification. Mr Sampath said it was highly insensitive on the part of the administration to require the 75-year-old person to undertake such a long journey.
He demanded that arrangements should be made to do physical verification at the home of aged pensioners. Several MPs associated themselves with Mr Sampath’s demand. (agencies)
