REASI, Mar 17: Aggrieved over no road connectivity, power and ration supply to their area for the last three months, inhabitants of several remote villages in Mahore tehsil of Reasi district have threatened to boycott the scheduled Lok Sabha elections.
In an open letter to Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mahore, the inhabitants of village Tuksun, Shadole, Ladh, Khore, Lar, Bharansal, Gulabgarh, Dewal, Nahoch, have lamented that there is no road connectivity, electricity, ration supply, medical facility etc in their area for the last three months following heavy snowfall.
“During this period, one person slipped to death from snow clad path at Manzvati, between Lar to Pagihala in January while a pregnant woman and a Middle School teacher died because of no medical facility,” they said adding that because of the prevailing situation, people were dying but the district administration was apparently least bothered about their plights.
Urging the district administration to address their grievances within a week, the locals have threatened to boycott the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections if no action is taken by the authorities.
Sarpanches and Naib Sarpanches of these areas, social activists Shabir and Tahira Parveen among others are signatory to the letter written to SDM Mahore.
