Agitating Contractual Lecturers continue protest for regularization

JAMMU, Apr 11: As the Police did not allow Contractual Lecturers to take out protest rally towards the official residence of Education Minister, the agitators staged a dharna on the road  near Dogra Crossing  and held a demonstration.
Carrying banner, they raised slogans against the State Government, Education Minister and in support of their demand of regularization. The peaceful protest demonstration continued for a few minutes and the agitators returned to the hunger strike venue after Police intervention.
The hunger strike by these Contractual Lecturers entered into 57th consecutive day today while Zabir Hussain Shah, Sulinder Kumar, Kanchan Bala and Ranjan Bala began their chain hunger strike today.
These Contractual Lecturers are demanding  their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the Regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/ Consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services.
While justifying their demand for regularization,  Arun Bakshi, president of the Contractual Lecturers Association explained that they were engaged vide order no.1584-edu.of 2003 and vide order no. 1328 of GAD, according to which  all the Contractual lecturers are to be continued till their regularization.  He also appealed the Government not to harass them further and issue necessary instructions for their regularization.
Bakshi reiterated  that the Contractual Lecturers would not end the hunger strike till the Government concedes their demand of regularization.
