JAMMU, Nov 8: Office bearers of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu today held meeting with the Chief Justice Gita Mittal and discussed two key issues—shifting of powers of registration of documents from Judicial Magistrates to the Revenue authorities and proposed shifting of High Court from Janipur to Raika.
During the meeting, which was also attended by Advocate General, the office bearers and senior members of the Bar opposed shifting of the High Court complex from Janipur Jammu to Raika. They projected their individual view points in the interest of the members of the Bar in general and junior members of the Bar in particular so that they are not deprived of their livelihood and sustainability, which they are getting from the registration work.
Chief Justice, as per the handout issued by the Bar, assured that genuine grievances of the lawyers fraternity and particularly young lawyers will be seriously and effectively considered and also informed that as on date there is no formal decision on shifting of the High Court complex from Janipur to Raika.
Chief Justice asked the members present in the meeting to submit their charter of demands in addition to two main demands.
Following the meeting, the Bar said that future course of action will be decided on November 13, 2019. “There is no change in indefinite agitation which will continue till the general demands are fulfilled”, the Bar said.
Meanwhile, work remained affected in High Court as well as District Courts of Jammu region due to the strike of the lawyers.
