Agitating PHE workers call off strike on Minister’s assurance

JAMMU, June 5: The All J&K PHE, ITI-Trained and CP Workers Association who were on strike for the last 85 days today called off their strike after a  meeting with Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary  at Jammu today.
During the meeting association demanded regularization of all daily wagers, ITI trained/CP workers, need based/casual labourers working in the department besides release of their wages which are pending for over an year.
The Minister assured the workers that their demands would be redressed as early as possible and directed the Chief Engineer to release their one month wages immediately.
The Minister also directed the officers to work with zeal and dedication to ensure adequate water supply so that people don’t face any inconvenience during summer season.
