JAMMU, June 18: Former minister and senior BJP leader Ch Lal Singh today said that September 23 should be a holiday all over Jammu and Kashmir since it is the day when Maharaja Hari Singh was born, a ruler who gave this State several important legislations besides creating institutions which have over the years become economic backbone of the State.
In a press statement here MLA Basholi Ch Lal Singh said, “Highly communal, bigoted and regionally biased thinking of the State Government-led by a Kashmir based political parties is the only reason why state holiday is not being declared on September 23 on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh. He was secular to the core. He was a brave Dogra king, who brought several reforms in the State revenue and financial system. It was during his time that Jammu and Kashmir used to export silk. His contribution has been exemplary and historic,” Ch Lal Singh said.
“If the State desists from declaring a state holiday, I appeal every Dogra of Jammu and Kashmir to observe State holiday on September 23. Those Kashmiri leaders who are opposing the State holiday should look inwards and ponder over their contribution to the state. Their only achievement has been that they have looted the State wealth and constructed palatial houses. They have victimized people of Jammu region,” Lal Singh added.
“Whenever they see Jammu region united, attempts are made to create confusion and divide us along political, religious and caste based lines. But it seems that all their attempts have met with failure this time. The 8- year old girl has brought us all together. We are speaking in one voice. And be sure, they would be forced to recommend CBI probe and if they delay, those who call themselves leaders of Jammu region would be left with no option but to join the revolution which is slowly but steadily gaining momentum all over Jammu region,” Lal Singh said.
He added, “Let me make it clear that Dogras won’t rest till CBI inquiry is ordered.” Regarding the ceasefire, Lal Singh said “Friends of separatists and terrorist are frustrated with Central Government announcing withdrawal of the ceasefire. Their frustration is likely to peak and we need to launch all out operation against the terrorists and their handlers.
