JAMMU, Dec 13: An Agniveer posted on sentry duty inside an army unit at Tanda area of Akhnoor allegedly died of gunshot injury under suspicious circumstances on Tuesday night.
Police said a gunshot was heard inside 24 FD Tanda, Akhnoor, around 10:30 PM on Tuesday.
“When the soldiers posted at the unit rushed towards the area from where the sound of the gunshot emanated, they found Pardeep Kumar Yadav in a pool of blood,” police said.
He was taken to Military Hospital (MH) Akhnoor where he breathed his last, they said.
Since police are not sure about how the Agniveer suffered injury, inquest proceedings under CrPC 174 have been initiated to further probe the matter.
