KATHUA, Feb 15: Kissan Mela-cum-Vegetable show was organized by Department of Agriculture Kathua under the Centrally sponsored scheme Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) at Jarai Panchayat today.
MLA Kathua Charanjeet Singh inaugurated the Vegetable show and inspected vegetables stalls along with stalls of other line departments. Near about 400 farmers were registered during the camp. There were more than 200 exhibits displayed varieties of vegetables properly for the observation of general public.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Bipan Sambyal in his welcome address said that the main purpose to organize such type of Kissan Mela cum Vegetable exhibition is to aware the farmers about the importance of growing vegetables in the area.
SDO Dayalachack Sat Pal Sharma briefed about the importance of zinc and sulphur deficiency in soil. He appealed all the farmers to apply these nutrients as the deficiency of the same is observed inmost of the fields. He also asked farmers to use potash in optimum quantity.
Sarpanch Babu Ram in his address praised Agriculture Department for organizing such Mela in his Panchayat.
While addressing the gathering chairperson of Panchayat Aradhna Andotra said that it is need of hour to utilize such resources for betterment of rural women.
JAEO’s of Kathua Zone Sunita Rani, Ashwani Sharma, Purshotam Gupta, Murari Lal worked hard to made this exhibition successful. REZ Working in the zone assisted their officers to organize the Kissan Mela.
This Mela was managed under the supervision and management of Agriculture extension officer Kathua Sanjeev Rai Gupta. The MLA also distributed first, second and third prize to the farmers.
