JAMMU, Mar 16: The Agriculture Department today organized a training and awareness program at Garhi (Purkhoo) area to educate farmers about modern farming techniques and Government schemes.
The event aimed to help farmers improve productivity through the use of advanced farming methods, high-quality seeds, and state-supported subsidies.
The program was attended by MLA Jammu North, Sham Lal Sharma as the chief guest and Chairman DDC Bharat Bhushan as the special guest.
In his address, Sham Lal Sharma emphasized the Government’s commitment to agricultural growth, highlighting several key initiatives like PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, Kisan Credit Card, and Soil Health Card Scheme.
He said these programs provide financial aid, crop insurance, and resources to farmers.
He encouraged farmers to adopt modern methods like organic farming, precision agriculture, and better irrigation practices to increase productivity and sustainability.
Sharma also praised the State Government’s initiatives, including the Mukhya Mantri Kisan Yojana, which provides financial assistance to farmers, and the Krishi Mechanization Scheme, offering subsidized farming equipment.
He mentioned efforts to improve irrigation, promote organic farming, and offer subsidies on fertilizers and pesticides.
Bharat Bhushan highlighted the importance of education and technology in farming, urging farmers to take advantage of subsidized equipment and improved irrigation systems.
He assured farmers of continuous support from the local administration and the Agriculture Department.
The Agriculture Department provided information about the use of modern farming tools, high-yield seeds, and innovative irrigation solutions.
The event was also attended by local agricultural officials, farmers and community leaders.
